Your Irish great-great grandparents, Patrick Wixtead of County Tipperary and Bridget (Keith) Wixtead of County Limerick, left Ireland with their children around 1850, near the end of The Great Famine. They settled in Douglas Massachusetts with several sons, and likely daughters, of which I only know of Thomas (your great-grandfather), Timothy, William and Michael. They are all buried at St. Denis Cemetery in Douglas, Massachusetts. The cemetery is named the “Wixtead Memorial” with a donation from your grandfather’s cousin, James W. Wixtead.

Grave site of your great-great grandparents, Patrick Wixtead and Bridget (Keith) Wixtead. St Denis Cemetery, Douglas, Massachusetts.

The inscription is a bit worn, but it indicates that Patrick was born in 1801 and was a native of County Tipperary and Bridget was born in 1804 and was a native of County Limerick.
